    Session Description: In today’s rapidly evolving workplace, HR professionals are increasingly called upon to solve complex, people-centered challenges. This interactive session introduces design thinking as a practical and innovative approach to problem-solving in HR. Participants will learn how to reframe challenges, generate creative solutions, and test ideas in a structured yet flexible way.

    Through real-world examples and guided activities, attendees will explore how design thinking can be applied to areas such as employee engagement, onboarding or other HR-related challenges. This session is ideal for HR professionals seeking new tools to drive innovation and create more impactful workplace solutions.

    Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the core principles of design thinking and how they apply to human resources challenges.
  • Learn how to develop creative, human-centered solutions to complex HR issues such as engagement, retention, and organizational change.

  • Speaker Bio: Dr. Lori K. Long is a Partner at Shoreline Associates, where she works with entrepreneurs, organizations, and nonprofits on leadership development, people strategy, and purpose-driven growth. An active entrepreneur educator, Lori currently runs coaching and mentoring programs through Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community College and teaches the innovation module in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.

    Lori is a Professor Emeritus at Baldwin Wallace University where she served for over 20 years as a professor of management and entrepreneurship and held the Burton D. Morgan Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship. Her academic career focused on management, entrepreneurship, and applied learning. She holds a Ph.D. in Management Systems from Kent State University, a master’s degree from Cleveland State University and Bachelor of Arts from Bowling Green State University.
